Demonstrating Our Rightful Heritage

Paul said, "Put off the old man with his deeds; and... put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him." Col. 3:9, 10;

Christian Science enables one to demonstrate his divine heritage as a child of God, a heritage taught by Christ Jesus. Science does this by removing from thought the false, or mortal, concept of man that appears real to the physical senses. Through spiritual growth students of this religion can gradually overcome the belief that they are mortal, and they can demonstrate their spiritual individuality in God's likeness.

In the degree that we cast out of thought the misconception of ourselves as mortal, we progress toward the ultimate goal of salvation. We should frequently take a deep look within our consciousness to uncover the elements of carnal thinking, such as hate, resentment, lust, and the like, that would prohibit us from growing in spiritual grace and demonstrating our divine heritage. We must be alert to detect and destroy the evil suggestions of the carnal mind that would deceive us into believing that we are conceived corporeally and that therefore we inherit material characteristics.
