After studying Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy for only two weeks, I was completely healed of the habit of smoking. These words found on page 407 of the book stayed firmly in my mind: "Puffing the obnoxious fumes of tobacco, or chewing a leaf naturally attractive to no creature except a loathsome worm, is at least disgusting." And on page 454 of the same book, Mrs. Eddy writes, "It need not be added that the use of tobacco or intoxicating drinks is not in harmony with Christian Science."

Many times prior to the reading of these truths I had tried in vain to give up my tobacco "crutch." By merely reading and accepting the facts so clearly given, I discovered that there was no need for smoking anymore, and the healing was instantaneously realized.

As I continued to learn more of God and to accept the promises in the Bible, as they are explained in Science and Health, other evils too fell by the wayside. Anemia was one of these. Over a period of twenty-six years I had periodically taken medicine and shots for it. At one point, about four years ago, a medical doctor told me he did not know how I could continue working with the condition of anemia as it existed. In the past two years or so, since my study of Science began, I have been healed completely of the condition. What a blessed relief to have the medicine cabinet cleared of all aspirins, vitamin pills, medicine, and tonics!
