Seeing my older brother healed...

Seeing my older brother healed overnight of a severe chest cold by the reading of the textbook by Mrs. Eddy so aroused my curiosity that I borrowed a copy from the public library. Thus started a study which is still going on so vast is the revelation of Truth in the works of Mrs. Eddy.

My own first healing came with the breaking down of the limitations placed on me from early childhood of a heart weakened by typhoid fever. This fear of physical inadequacy was completely met as I came to realize that "health is not a condition of matter, but of Mind" (Science and Health, p. 120) and that man expresses this Mind. Before graduation I was representing my college in intercollegiate track meets, running the half mile, mile, and cross-country.

The realization of God's goodness and care for His children who look to Him for help also destroyed the fear and acceptance of financial limitations in connection with the possibility of further education and training in the profession of my choice, with the result that two years of graduate study in this country and a year of European study opened up. Truly I have found that Mrs. Eddy was right when she said (Miscellaneous Writings, p. 307), "God gives you His spiritual ideas, and in turn, they give you daily supplies."
