Sorrow No Part of Real Consciousness

The alert student of Christian Science knows that the essential consideration in every circumstance is whether his thoughts originate humanly or divinely. Thoughts which proceed from the all-knowing, all-loving divine Mind, the eternally perfect Principle of man, invariably inspire a joyful outlook and a confident trust in good. Thoughts which result in uncertainty or discord of any kind or in downright anguish originate in a false mortal mentality supposedly existing separate and apart from the divine consciousness.

How comforting it is to learn in Christian Science that the mortal concept of life and all it includes of human woe obtain alone in false consciousness, of which the divine Mind and Mind's intelligent, spiritual idea, man, take no cognizance! Mrs. Eddy writes (Science and Health, p. 276), "Man and his Maker are correlated in divine Science, and real consciousness is cognizant only of the things of God."

When one is struggling with the suggestion that one has something to grieve over, what a joy it is when he suddenly awakens to the realization that a sad or grief-stricken state of thought does not partake of the nature of spiritual reality, which, according to Science, is eternally harmonious and happifying. Therefore grief is not worthy of being entertained in human consciousness.
