Love—an Element of Faith
The important relationship of unselfed love to faith was plainly stated by Paul when he asserted (I Cor. 13:13), "Now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity."
The Bible contains many accounts of people who included in their concept of faith a large measure of pure loving-kindness, and who, as a result, had the spiritual understanding which enabled them to bring healing and help to those close to them.
In the Old Testament is found the story of the Shunammite woman. Not only did her unselfishness and high sense of charity cause her to provide Elisha with food whenever he passed by, but she and her husband even built a small room for him so that he might rest there when his journeys took him to that spot.
