I did not come into Christian Science...
I did not come into Christian Science for healing, for I did not feel I needed this; but I wanted to find out how this religion healed, having witnessed the instantaneous healing of one of my sisters, who had influenza and who knew nothing of Science until a friend came to read to her from Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy when she was ill.
I was so impressed by my sister's healing that I asked this woman to take me to her church, and the next Sunday I went with her to the service. I must have been thirsty for that "cup of cold water"' (Matt. 10:42) because I came out of church feeling wonderful, and my heart was light.
Instead of going home, I went straight to the Reading Room and borrowed copies of the Bible and Science and Health and started to read and study the Bible Lesson, outlined in the Christian Science Quarterly, every day. Two weeks after I had begun this study, I disposed of a bucketful of divers medicines I had.
