RULES FOR SUCCESS IN HEALING

The discovery of Christian Science by Mary Baker Eddy came to her after years of spiritual preparation. She had been searching the Scriptures and looking to God for enlightenment. Her sincere desire was to find for the benefit of sick and suffering humanity the Science or fundamental law that was the basis of the healing works of Christ Jesus. As she looked to God, divine Love, in the years that followed her own healing of a serious injury, the complete revelation of the Science of healing used by our Master was revealed to her.

She set down in the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," for the benefit of mankind the rules of healing she had discovered, and she has specifically promised that when these rules are followed by the sincere student, successful healing is sure to result. She writes on page 448 of this textbook, "If the student adheres strictly to the teachings of Christian Science and ventures not to break its rules, he cannot fail of success in healing."

To succeed in the work of healing it is necessary, then, to find the rules and learn to be obedient to them. As the thoughtful student studies the Bible and Science and Health, he is able to find many statements which, when understood, are seen to be specific rules that become the basis for scientific prayer or treatment in Christian Science.
