Church Dedications

Hobbs, New Mexico (First Church).
Christian Science first came to this locality in 1907 when a student of this religion came here in a covered wagon and homesteaded a few miles west of Hobbs. A few years later another student moved here and contacted all those interested in Christian Science. They began holding regular Sunday services in a private home and continued to do so until 1935, when a room was rented at the Harden Hotel for this purpose. Wednesday evening testimony meetings were also added.
Soon a lot was donated at 222 East Humble Street, and the group built a small frame structure where church services and Sunday School classes were held.
