GROWING UP SPIRITUALLY
In Christian Science we learn to pray effectively. Through the study and application of this Science, we glean a higher, a more spiritual concept of God and man and an understanding faith with which to work out our daily problems.
A mother had been having a trying experience for several months with her young son, who was nearing the age of twelve. After an especially difficult day, she took the Bible and the works of Mrs. Eddy and turned again to God for guidance. Humbly she prayed, "Dear God, give me an understanding heart."
With that, she opened the Bible to the second chapter of Luke and read the account of Christ Jesus, at the age of twelve, asking questions of the learned men in the temple. Here Mary and Joseph found him, after sorrowfully looking for him for three days. When asked why he had thus dealt with them, Jesus replied (Luke 2:49), "Wist ye not that I must be about my Father's business?"
