At a period in my life which was dark indeed, Christian Science was presented to me by a dear sister. I was suffering from a heart condition which an eminent heart specialist had pronounced incurable and which totally incapacitated me. There were financial worries and much sickness. The medical bills took a large share of my husband's earnings. There were four small children to care for. About this time, also, my mother passed on, and I was overwhelmed with grief.

Despite the efforts of the good doctor to help me, I grew steadily worse until one night I appeared to be passing on. My sister, with whom I was staying at the time, offered to call a Christian Science practitioner, and I consented. Treatment was given, and the next evening the practitioner came to see me. The healing on that occasion was immediate.

I then borrowed my sister's textbook, Science and Health, and began to read in order to discover what had healed me. My sister also taught me how to study the Bible Lessons, outlined in the Christian Science Quarterly.
