"THERE IS A SPIRIT IN MAN"

The spiritual fact that "God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him" (Gen. 1:27) and that man is therefore spiritual was long unacknowledged by the world. Divine Science, which is the Holy Comforter promised by Christ Jesus, is revealing to mankind the liberating truth of God and man.

Since every problem involves in some degree ignorance of God and of man's relation to Him, Job's experience is helpful to us in solving our problems today. Job was devoted to the worship of God as he understood Him, but he needed the true understanding of God and of man's real selfhood. Spiritual ignorance had brought him sickness, loss, fear, and confusion.

It was Elihu who said to Job: "There is a spirit in man: and the inspiration of the Almighty giveth them understanding" (Job 32). Christian Science reveals this "spirit in man" to be the activity of the Christ, ever present in the human consciousness and adequate to meet the demands made upon it. This Science is making Christ comprehensible to mankind. According to its teachings, Christ is the divine ideal, the spirit of Truth, to be understood and lived by all men. The saving Christ is always present and adequate to heal human lack and suffering.
