"THE BEATIFIC PRESENCE"

Great joy and benediction may be experienced by one's comprehending the spiritual import of our Leader's words in Science and Health (p. 266): "Perfect and infinite Mind enthroned is heaven. The evil beliefs which originate in mortals are hell. Man is the idea of Spirit; he reflects the beatific presence, illuming the universe with light."

A dictionary defines the word "beatific" as "blessing or making happy; imparting bliss." "The beatific presence" is ever awaiting opportunity to bring the joys of heaven to mankind. Consciousness of this presence illumines one's thinking with the supremacy of good and the nothingness of evil.

Through prayer, humility, and self-abnegation, each individual may feel the illumination of this holy presence. Each one can in reality know himself as the idea of Spirit and see perfect and infinite Mind enthroned. Such knowing brings release from the fetters of mortality and gives spiritual gleams of immortality. This was evidenced in the experience of the writer when she was touring through one of the national parks of the United States in a large twelve-passenger car. At one point the car began to back until a rear wheel was but a short distance from the unprotected brink of a canyon. Those in the rear of the car cried out.
