It is with a heart overflowing with gratitude that I write this testimony.

When I was a young child, I lost my mother. My father was a very religious man, who brought up his children in an orthodox faith. Every Sunday he read aloud to us a passage from the Bible. In that way we became acquainted with the Scriptures, but in later years, at a time of need, I realized that I was finding no comfort in the Bible.

Then I asked God to send me light. Shortly afterwards I received a letter about Christian Science from my sister who lived in Djakarta. I was living elsewhere on Java. I understood nothing of what she told me, but very shortly thereafter a schoolteacher who was a Christian Scientist came to live in the same hotel where I lived. When I talked with her, I asked her to tell me about Christian Science, and in order that she might do so, she invited me to her room.
