LETTERS TO THE PRESS FROM CHRISTIAN SCIENCE COMMITTEES ON PUBLICATION

Winnipeg Free Press

Winnipeg Free Press Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada

An article [in your paper] dealing with religious beliefs and blood transfusions has come to our special notice. As it includes some rather misleading statements about Christian Science, its practitioners and members, their faith and healing work, we should appreciate space for a brief explanation and correction.

Without entering into any debate on the subject, allow me to state that Christian Scientists do not practice medicine in the ordinarily accepted meaning of that term. They practice spiritual healing, finding their authorization in the Bible and particularly in the teaching and example of Christ jesus. This teaching and practice of the Way-shower is opened to them in its full meaning in the writings of Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science.
