"A GRAIN OF CHRISTIAN SCIENCE"

Are we tempted to believe that we must assimilate all the truth in the Bible and all that Mary Baker Eddy has written in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" and in her other writings, or, at least, a great deal of it, before we can heal ourselves or others? Do we exercise the understanding of Christian Science that we have, or do we just turn at once to a more experienced worker?

Our Leader writes in Science and Health (p. 449), "A grain of Christian Science does wonders for mortals, so omnipotent is Truth, but more of Christian Science must be gained in order to continue in well doing." A grain of wheat left in the granary will remain but one grain; but sown in soil and watered with gentle rains and warmed by the rays of the sun, one grain may be the beginning of fields of waying grain. Likewise, "a grain of Christian Science," when used, grows into a better understanding.

The understanding that God is both our Father and our Mother unveils the tender, loving nature of God, as revealed in Christian Science. Even a glimpse of this nature was "a grain of Christian Science" which enabled the writer to utilize this understanding sufficiently to experience numerous healings whenever she turned to the Bible and to the writings of Mrs. Eddy.
