A dear friend told me of Christian Science
A dear friend told me of Christian Science. Before that I had gone through deep waters of sickness and had had several operations. I had tried many different medicines, but I always felt worse instead of better after using them. Finally I started to attend a Christian Science church regularly, 't he Wednesday evening testimony meetings were very helpful. In a short time I threw my medicines away. Slowly but surely Christian Science healed me completely.
About three years ago at my place of employment I was taken ill and could not stand up straight. This was witnessed by two fellow workmen, and so it had to be reported. I was told that I had a double hernia and that unless f submitted to an operation, I would not come under the employment rules and thus would lose my job. Therefore I finally consented to their ways of medicine and had the operation. However, afterward I was worse than ever. I could not work, and in addition to the physical trouble, I had a nervous breakdown .
I knew then and there I must turn to God with my whole heart, and I called a Christian Science practitioner. After being sure that I was under no medical or hospital treatment, because, as Jesus said, "Ye cannot serve God and mammon" (Matt. 6:24), the practitioner lovingly took up the work. In a few months I was back at work completely healed.
How true are the words of our beloved Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, from "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (Pref., p vii), "To those leaning on the sustaining infinite, to-day is big with blessings"! I am sincerely grateful to God, to Christ Jesus, the Way-shower, and to Mrs. Eddy, who gave Christian Science to the world.—Eli Vojvodich, Cudahy, Wisconsin.
I wish to verify my husband's testimony. How well I remember our having, in the words of Mrs. Eddy (Science and Health, p. 392), to "stand porter at the door of thought," silently declaring God's allness all the time! This statement from the textbook has been very helpful (ibid., p. 259): "The Christlike understanding of scientific being and divine healing includes a perfect Principle and idea,—perfect God and perfect man,—as the basis of thought and demonstration."
Through Christian Science treatment I was healed of a goiter. Our four children have had the blessed privilege of attending the Christian Science Sunday School and have been healed and protected in many ways through the study and application of Christian Science.
I am grateful for membership in The Mother Church and in a branch church, and I am grateful to Mary Baker Eddy for "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures."—(Mrs.) Theodora Vojvodich.
