A SPIRITUAL PANORAMA
If one is where the foliage changes color when winter approaches, what a feeling of exhilaration and joy it gives to look out from a mountaintop on a brisk autumn day! The riot of color which nature presents defies description.
Breath-taking as it is, such a view remains but for a short time. A mist, a rainstorm, or even a dark cloud may hide the beauty and dampen one's joy.
This illustration indicates the transient nature of beauty when based entirely on matter. Many of us have accepted opportunities or gained cherished goals that we thought would make life more beautiful, more satisfying, only to learn that insofar as we were thinking materially, the beauty, the satisfaction, soon waned.
