I always find the testimonies in...
I always find the testimonies in our periodicals, as well as those offered at the Wednesday testimony meetings and the Thanksgiving Day services, most helpful. I am grateful for all of them.
Christian Science came to me when I did not know what to do for one of our children who was ill most of the time. An appendix operation had been resorted to as the only thing left which might free him from constant pains in the stomach, fever, and discordant reactions to all kinds of food. It did not relieve the conditions.
In this unhappy state, I heard of Christian Science, and I grasped at it as a drowning person would grasp at a straw. I called a Christian Science practitioner, who came to visit us. Our whole experience was transformed as a result of that visit. Our child was immediately and completely healed, and although it has been more than eighteen years since this occurred, there has never been a return of any of the symptoms. And there was what seemed a new birth for us—a new heaven and a new earth—for a clear understanding of God and of man in His image and likeness was revealed to us.
It would take too much space to tell of each one of the healings and of the regeneration which took place and which continues to take place. If I had been asked what I should like to have for our family, I would not have dared to outline anything as perfect as life has been for us since we became students of Christian Science. In fact, I do not think I would have believed that there was such a way of life! It is something so different from my former concept, wherein I was led to believe that suffering, sickness, and lack were a part of the experience we all must have.
I am so grateful for every healing received by each member of our family and for the gradual diminution of physical problems as we have learned to understand and express the qualities of God. I am grateful that our children grew up having the benefits of the Christian Science Sunday School. I am also grateful for The Christian Science Monitor Youth Forum activities, which met their need for interesting activity and proper companionship.
Our beloved Leader, Mrs. Eddy, tells us in our textbook, Science and Health (p. 494), "Divine Love always has met and always will meet every human need." I am so happy to be able to testify to the truth of this statement. Christian Science has not only met but has met abundantly every need. In the Bible we read (Matt. 10:8), "Freely ye have received, freely give." To give is my constant desire, for I have received good without measure.
I cannot close this testimony without expressing gratitude to God, the Giver of all good, to Christ Jesus, our Way-shower, and to Mrs. Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, and for the spiritual growth that has come with church membership, class instruction, and our association meetings.—(Mrs.)Ida White, Brooklyn, New York.
