There is no aspect of my human...

There is no aspect of my human experience which has not been improved through the application of the teachings of Christian Science. Since taking up its study, I have enjoyed excellent health. I have not used medicine in any form; nor have I employed the services of a medical practitioner, apart from obtaining necessary certificates of health.

Shortly after taking up the study of Christian Science, I realized that it is essential to gain a spiritual understanding of home as taught in Christian Science. I studied Mrs. Eddy's writings and read every article I could find on the subject, convinced that if I could understand the spiritual idea, the human need would be taken care of. It was indeed gratifying to see the human sense of home keep pace with the improved spiritual concept.

During the air raids over Britain in World War II, I devoted half an hour a day to prayerful metaphysical work on home because so many people in Britain were being rendered homeless. Some time later I found myself, once again, in need of a home. Rented flats and houses were unprocurable. For three weeks I did not mention my need to anyone, but I held faithfully to the truth that as a spiritual idea I had a home in God, divine Mind, a home of which I could never be deprived.

After a period of prayerful mental work, I was led to read the following Scriptural quotation (II Sam. 7:10): "I will appoint a place for my people Israel, and will plant them, that they may dwell in a place of their own, and move no more." I knew that God was guiding me. At the end of three weeks I found a suitable home. Within two years a friend bequeathed to me a fully furnished home which for the last nine years has proved a blessing to many who have been privileged to share it.

During the so-called business depression of 1932 it was necessary for me to find employment. I realized that Christian Science held the solution to this problem. As I studied, I began to see the purely spiritual nature of activity, that man is the perfect and active reflection of divine Mind. I saw that I must express such qualities as humility, gratitude, faith, joy, understanding, and love. I continued to apply my understanding and to know that in reality I was a spiritual idea already active in Mind.

With the opening of the schools I was appointed in a temporary teaching capacity. Within the next twelve months I was accepted on the permanent staff, and I have since enjoyed twenty-six years of unbroken service.

The problem of supply has likewise been met through Christian Science. From the moment that I realized that I was not in reality a mortal needing money but a spiritual idea having all that God gives, I have demonstrated supply. It was like a ray of light that shone within my thinking when reasoning convinced me that since I am a spiritual idea, Mind is my source of supply, that the only need is for spiritual understanding, and that this need is always taken care of by divine Mind.

I submit this testimony in deep gratitude to Christ Jesus, our Way-shower, to Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, to The Mother Church, which maintains the many avenues that aid our journey from material to spiritual thinking and living, and to all loyal supporters of this great movement.—(Mrs.) Gladys Ella Gibbs, Durban North, Natal, South Africa.
