FORWARD MARCH

Pearl Strachan Hurd

Desire to love grown stronger
Than wish to be loved
Means heart no longer
Unsatisfied.

Acceptance of each other
As offspring of one Mind,
One Father, one Mother,
As one's own kind,
Brings harmony to earth,
Spells freedom
From fatality of birth;

Gives wings
To crack through barrier
Of hereditary pride.
Means freer breath,
And renunciation
Of death;
Means joyful, irresistible,
Forward stride.
