When I have read testimonies about dislocated bones which have returned to their normal position and about broken bones which have been healed without medical aid, I must confess I have sometimes felt almost incredulous. Recently, however, I experienced a healing of a slipped disk in my spine, and I can no longer doubt the power of divine Love as demonstrated through Christian Science.

I had such severe pains that I could hardly walk, much less stoop or bend. I was not well grounded in Christian Science, and because of my doubts and because I had medical service available through the Navy, I thought it advisable to consult with the Navy doctors. X rays were taken and showed a slipped disk. The attending physician suggested that I see an orthopedic doctor at a naval hospital, and he made an appointment for about two weeks later.

Having heard that a slipped disk frequently requires surgery, traction, or the wearing of a brace, I prayed to be delivered from resorting to any of these. Instead I turned more earnestly to Christian Science and devoted quite a bit of time to study. However, I was still not free from pain and discomfort; so I wrote to a practitioner for help.
