Many and varied have been the healings in my experience since Christian Science was first mentioned to me. I had been for five months in a tuberculosis sanitarium and was released only on condition that I would remain in bed for a complete rest.

Within a week after my arrival home, I was stricken with a severe case of rheumatic fever. A physician predicted that I would be disabled for a period of several months and would be left with a very weak heart.

A practical nurse attending me asked if I would be interested in a textbook on Christian Science, which her daughter would lend me. I readily said that I would, for the future looked black indeed. This textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, was given me by the nurse's daughter, who quoted this sentence from page 494: "Divine Love always has met and always will meet every human need."
