Signs of the times

Rev. Charles L. Allen, D.D. in The Atlanta Constitution Atlanta, Georgia

The other day I sat for a time looking at a big mountain. I was impressed with its ruggedness. Halfway up I could see steep rock cliffs. I got to thinking about how hard it would be to climb over that mountain. Then the thought occurred to me that there are mountains that stand in the pathway of life that are hard to climb over. Many people feel defeated before some difficult life situation.

I opened my Bible and read again Mark 11:22, 23. With a great mountain actually before my eyes, those words were more impressive. Jesus said: "Have faith in God. For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith."
