LIMITLESS SPIRITUAL VISION

Since man is the image and likeness of God, spiritual, not material, as the Scriptures reveal, his vision is not limited by material conditions. God still sees everything He has made and sees it as "very good" (Gen. 1:31). Therefore man, God's likeness, must reflect perfect, spiritual vision. Through Christian Science we can demonstrate this fact.

As the limited mortal senses yield to the immortal spiritual senses, we demonstrate true vision. Mary Baker Eddy writes in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 264), "As mortals gain more correct views of God and man, multitudinous objects of creation, which before were invisible, will become visible."

Something of what Mrs. Eddy's words mean was seen by a young man while still a pupil in a Christian Science Sunday School. Suffering from a painful physical ailment, he walked into the garden in search of diversion. "How desolate everything seems!" he thought. Wherever he looked he saw only suggestions of the absence of beauty and life. Failing to find inspiration or relief from pain, he returned to the house and telephoned a Christian Science practitioner to ask for help. With a few inspired words, the practitioner awakened in the young man a sense of gratitude, an appreciation of the magnitude and beauty of God's ever-present being.
