In "Miscellaneous Writings," our beloved Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, says (p. 347), "Those who know no will but His take His hand, and from the night He leads to light."

Christian Science was presented to me twenty years ago. I had been under a doctor's care for a spinal condition that caused me great pain and kept me inactive. After eighteen months of medical treatment I was getting worse all the time. I was finally told by the doctor that he could do no more for me and that the condition would lead to invalidism.

This news made me so fearful that I was on the verge of a nervous breakdown. That night I turned to God in prayer, and I remember saving these words: "I know there must be a way." The very next day a copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy was placed in my hands by a friend, who, though not a Christian Scientist, said she had witnessed a healing brought about by merely reading this textbook.
