That Christ, Truth, heals today...

That Christ, Truth, heals today through Christian Science, just as in Jesus' time, has been beautifully proved in my experience. After two doctors had exhausted in my behalf all medical means but that of surgery, the Science of Christianity and its revelation of the Christ came with the message of freedom.

I had become almost completely deaf in both ears from what appeared to be an infection spreading from one ear to the other. The condition. which grew steadily worse, had manifested itself when I was seven years of age, and for about a year and a half my family had medical treatment of various kinds for it.

Finally, a doctor, who was a specialist in this field of medicine, stated that an operation was my only hope. He could promise no benefit if this was resorted to, however, and, in fact, indicated that the operation might prove to be fatal to my hearing, causing me to become totally deaf.

My mother, who had heard of Christian Science through a friend whom she had known and loved for many years, called a practitioner, who very lovingly took up prayerful work. The practitioner asked that we give attention to the definition of "ears" on page 585 of the Glossary in the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health by Mary Baker Eddy: "Not organs of the so-called corporeal senses, but spiritual understanding."

It was not long before my hearing began to improve, and I was able to attend school, sitting in the front row of the classroom. Later I was able to hear the teacher from the last row in the back of the room. The complete healing followed, and I was then able to hear a whisper when I was spoken to.

In the meanwhile I had several very quick healings which did much to encourage me and my parents as we prayed for more spiritual understanding of God and of man in His likeness, as we are taught in Christian Science. Within a month after coming into Christian Science I was healed of a rupture, for which a doctor had prescribed a surgical belt. This healing was accomplished in one treatment by a practitioner.

Later, I had pneumonia, which I had also experienced before turning to Christian Science, and at that time it had required six weeks of medical treatment. This time I was healed in two treatments by the practitioner, and on the third day I reported back to school perfectly well.

Christian Science has been a constantly effectual help in maintaining my good health, home relationships, and business as a salesman. It was a protection to me also when serving in the Army in World War II. During those years I found myself blessed constantly with enjoyable duties, among them that of an instructor in the Air Corps. This assignment permitted me much freedom from the usual Army regimentation.

Loneliness was overcome by my turning to the Bible and to Science and Health, thus gaining a sense of my unity with God. Friends I made in attending Christian Science churches in various parts of the United States have over the years become nearer and dearer to me.

For membership in The Mother Church and a branch church, as well as for class instruction, I am indeed grateful. I am also appreciative of our Christian Science periodicals and their messages of the healing Christ, which are contained in articles and testimonies coming from many parts of the world. They are doing much to fulfill the prophecy of Habakkuk (2:14): "The earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord, as the waters cover the sea."—Warren G.
