Display Windows: Our Silent Missionaries

An interest in Christian Science aroused, a misapprehension corrected, discouragement dispelled, mental poise restored, the knowledge of life as spiritual glimpsed— these are just a few of the healing experiences realized by individuals through reading at display windows of Christian Science Reading Rooms.

Thoughtfully planned displays of the writings of Mary Baker Eddy and other Christian Science literature in Reading Room windows are playing a large and important part in presenting Christian Science to the passers-by and in opening their thought to the possibility of spiritual healing.

Mrs. Eddy, speaking of the necessity of evangelizing the human self, states in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 254): "But the human self must be evangelized. This task God demands us to accept lovingly to-day, and to abandon so fast as practical the material, and to work out the spiritual which determines the outward and actual." Often this purifying process of evangelization begins at a Reading Room window. Statements read from the open books and periodicals sow the seeds of spiritual truth in consciousness and awaken an interest in Christian Science.
