SUMMIT MEETING

Much has been said in recent months regarding the call for a meeting at the summit, that is, a meeting of the heads of the leading nations of the world. Such discussions should bring the Christian Scientist into immediate action. And such action is called for whether the proposed meeting is actually at the summit level or is constituted of lesser officials.

The mere coming together of those in executive power to discuss the problems and welfare of men and nations does not in itself spell success. The Psalmist says (Ps. 127:1), "Except the Lord build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the Lord keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain."

God alone is the power which not only creates but also governs the universe. And unless men derive their wisdom and understanding from God, Spirit, they limit their search for health, peace, prosperity, and security. As long as man is regarded as a mortal and not the pure, eternal, perfect idea of Spirit, as he is revealed in Christian Science, human effort, whether at the base or the summit, will encounter hindrances to the progress of mankind.
