"REJOICE EVERMORE"

Rejoice evermore. Pray without ceasing. In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you" (I Thess. 5:16-18). The injunction contained in this message, sent by the Apostle Paul to encourage the early Christians at Thessalonica, might well be considered by Christians of today.

To rejoice is to be grateful for and to affirm good. To the Christian Scientist it means to dwell on the scientific truths of being in contradistinction to the dissipation of thought which merely mourns the lie of evil. No amount of time spent in mourning an illusion, or lie, will ever establish the truth regarding a condition or circumstance.

God, good, is real. Evil, being a mistaken concept, an attempted reversal of good, must be and is unreal. Thus it is meet for us to rejoice in consciously rejecting the error and firmly establishing the truth in thought. To understand the truth regarding any condition or circumstance is to heal that condition or circumstance, hence to rejoice.
