With a heart full of gratitude for many benefits received through the study of Christian Science and in the hope that it will be of help to others, I submit this testimony. Before taking up the study of Christian Science, I was very much opposed to what I thought it to be. I had listened to many uncomplimentary remarks about it and about our Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, and had accepted them as being true.

I was prompted through curiosity to borrow a copy of Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy and started to read it. I read the Preface and part of the first chapter, entitled "Prayer," and was delighted to find that Christian Science is entirely different from what I had expected. I found that it is a simple statement of Truth, and as I read on with an open mind I experienced a feeling of joy and exaltation such as I had never known before. I felt that I was very close to God and had an inexplicable desire to do only good.

About an hour later I discovered that I had been healed of a growth on one of my eyelids, which had persisted for several years and which the doctors had not been able to cure. Since that time, more than twenty-seven years ago, Christian Science has been my only physician and counselor.
