CHRISTIAN HEALING, THE BABE WE CHERISH

In her "Miscellaneous Writings," Mary Baker Eddy says of the Christ, God's idea (p. 370): "In different ages the divine idea assumes different forms, according to humanity's needs. In this age it assumes, more intelligently than ever before, the form of Christian healing. This is the babe we are to cherish. This is the babe that twines its loving arms about the neck of omnipotence, and calls forth infinite care from His loving heart."

To cherish Christian healing is to cherish Christlike gentleness and impartial, universal love in our hearts. We need to understand the words and works of Christ Jesus, who had the deepest compassion for the multitudes—a vital and important quality in Christian healing.

Wherever he went the Master used this quality of compassion in restoring sight to the blind, hearing to the deaf, speech to the dumb, in cleansing lepers, in casting out devils, and in raising the dead.
