"THE INSPIRED WORD OF THE BIBLE"

Mary Baker Eddy has brought to light in Christian Science the full and final revelation of Truth. In "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," she gives the Tenets of Christian Science, the first of which reads (p. 497), "As adherents of Truth, we take the inspired Word of the Bible as our sufficient guide to eternal Life."

Christian Scientists take the sacred Word of the Bible as corroborated and explained in Mrs. Eddy's writings to be a sufficient guide for them in all circumstances, whether the problem is that of health, of security, of freedom from want, of human relationships, of church problems, or of world problems.

The writer had the privilege of proving the sufficiency of the divine Word at a time when he was suffering from a physical difficulty. Although a Christian Science practitioner was working prayerfully for him, the writer was also harassed by the persistent suggestion that he needed a physical examination. Through the work of the practitioner, he took his stand; and in a humble effort to gain his freedom, he earnestly reached out to God for guidance. He opened his copy of Science and Health at random and read the first tenet quoted above.
