Mary Baker Eddy defines...

Mary Baker Eddy defines "Christ" thus: "The divine manifestation of God, which comes to the flesh to destroy incarnate error" (Science and Health, p. 583). I am grateful for the many times incarnate error has been destroyed in my experience.

When I was confronted with what probably would have been diagnosed as a severe case of appendicitis, I was led to study thoroughly the healings and other marvelous works performed by Christ Jesus. These demonstrations of the Master revealed to me the Scriptural authority upon which Mrs. Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, based the first sentence of "the scientific statement of being," which reads (Science and Health, p. 468), "There is no life, truth, intelligence, nor substance in matter."

As I thought of Jesus' accomplishments, I saw that he proved there was no life, no truth, no intelligence, and no substance in matter. With this realization, I was instantly healed.
