It is impossible for me to put...

It is impossible for me to put into words how grateful I am to God, Christian Science, and Mary Baker Eddy. Mrs. Eddy wrote much on the subject of sight, but the following statements have been especially helpful and beneficial to me: "Eyes. Spiritual discernment—not material but mental" (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, p. 586), and, "Sight, hearing, all the spiritual senses of man, are eternal. They cannot be lost" (ibid., p. 486).

The acceptance and realization of the absolute truth of statements such as these imparted to me by my parents healed me of defective vision. Eminent oculists in both Australia and the United Kingdom diagnosed the condition as a congenital absence of irises. I could distinguish colored cards only when placed quite close to my eyes. The specialists were powerless to do anything at all to remedy the difficulty.

In desperation, after the total failure of medical science, my parents took up the study of Christian Science, in the hope that it might alleviate the condition. I was three years of age at the time, but through my parents' steadfast reliance on Truth I was healed within some five years. That was over twenty-one years ago, and I can now see and read without using glasses. This healing, I can assure everyone, has changed my whole way of life, because without it I would never have done the things I have done or do the work I do today.
