ROBBING ERROR OF STRENGTH

Every healing recorded in the Bible teaches that error has no strength. But certain fallacies, blindly accepted by the world, claim to give power to evil: the belief that man is a mortal, beginning with birth, living in the flesh, and then dying out of it; that life in Spirit, God, can be reached only after death.

Christian Science reveals spiritual life—never beginning and never ending—to be the only actual life of man, God's likeness, and shows humanity how to awaken to its eternal presence and strength. Mary Baker Eddy says in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 14), "Entirely separate from the belief and dream of material living, is the Life divine, revealing spiritual understanding and the consciousness of man's dominion over the whole earth."

The understanding of the truths of God's allness and of man's spiritual perfection can be used to cancel out the untruths which appear only in "the belief and dream of material living." A clear distinction must be made between the consciousness of God and the consciousness of matter. The former is truthful and reliable, the latter is false and unreliable. Although both spiritual sense and material sense seem to exist in the same human being, the consciousness of God and His spiritual creation of ideas alone is real.
