THE IMPORTANCE OF FAITH IN HEALING

The consistency with which Christ Jesus healed all manner of disease indicates not only that he understood the saving and redeeming power of divine Principle, Love, but that he had unbounded faith in its availability and universality. It is in such faith and understanding today that his followers are able in increasing measure to heal the sick.

The Master's immediate disciples were blessed with abundant explanation and proof of mankind's ability to reflect the power that heals; yet there were times when their healing efforts were not successful. One such experience is related in Matthew. In the seventeenth chapter we read that a distraught father brought his lunatic son to the disciples, and they were unable to heal him. The father's appeal to the Master brought immediate and effective response; the lad was healed forthwith.

It would have been surprising had his disciples not inquired into the reason for their failure. Jesus neither sympathized with nor excused them. In fact, he rebuked them for their inability to heal the case. Fortunately for us today, Jesus did not stop with the rebuke. What he said to his disciples on that occasion is applicable to similar situations everywhere.
