More than thirty years ago Christian Science...

More than thirty years ago Christian Science was presented to me by a very dear member of my family. At the time there was no particular need for physical healing, but I was impressed when Jesus' words from the Bible were quoted to me (Matt. 6:24): "No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon." My glimpse of this truth caused me to begin the study of the Christian Science textbooks, the Bible and Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy.

During this time we were living in a small town where there was no Christian Science church. Shortly thereafter we moved to a larger place where there was a branch church, and I was able to attend church services and lectures. About two years later our baby was born. Through the help of Christian Science I was beautifully cared for, and my recovery was rapid. Our religion has proved invaluable in bringing up our daughter. At a very early age she was healed of scarlet fever in just a few days and with no aftereffects.

After my husband had some teeth extracted, a very severe infection of the jaw developed. He was in great pain and was unable to eat or sleep. He relied solely on Christian Science for healing, and treatment was given by a practitioner. Very early on a Sunday morning, he said that he felt as though he were shedding a garment from his head to his feet. Then he fell asleep. Later when he awakened, he was completely healed. He got up, dressed, and served as an usher in the branch church of which he was a member. The healing and saving power of Truth in all its completeness was so beautifully demonstrated in this experience that our gratitude can best be expressed only as our lives give proof of it.
