RADIO PROGRAM No. 193 - Freedom from Enslaving Habits

Speaker: We're going to talk today about freedom—freedom from bondage to enslaving habits. Our guest is Andrew Frary of Oakland, California. He learned how to break the chains of a false habit and gained a deeper understanding of true satisfaction. What led you to turn to Christian Science for this healing, Mr. Frary?

Mr. Frary: My first experience with Christian Science came by way of a physical healing when I was sixteen. My parents became concerned about my poor health and decided on a physical examination. Our family physician diagnosed my trouble as incipient tuberculosis and sent me to bed for three months. At that time there were no students of Christian Science in our home, although Mother did have a copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, which she asked me to read. It was at this time that I first read this textbook from cover to cover.

Long before the prescribed three months of rest were ended, I knew that I was healed. My weight increased so rapidly that I had outgrown all my clothes. It became so difficult for Mother to keep me in bed that even she was convinced that I must be healed, and so insisted on another examination by our physician. His examination proved to everyone's satisfaction that there was no tuberculosis present. This healing took place twenty-two years ago, and there has never been a recurrence.
