I have learned through my study of Christian Science to listen for God's guiding voice, and I am also learning to obey His commands. For this, I am very grateful.

We live in the country. One day a fire got started about one hundred and fifty feet from the house. The flames covered a large area of ground and were rapidly spreading. I began to declare the truth and called on God's ever-present help in this emergency. Then I went to the telephone, dialed the operator, and asked her to obtain help.

By this time the fire had crept up under the apple trees which were about fifty feet from our house on the lawn. My husband and two neighboring farmers were working frantically to prevent the fire from spreading. Again I earnestly declared the truth and knew that God was present. Within ten minutes, help came, the fire was checked, and our house was unharmed.
