In the Bible we read (Hebr. 4:12),...

In the Bible we read (Hebr. 4:12), "The word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart." This truth was proved to me while my wife and I were traveling in the Southwest on a vacation.

We had had a splendid trip until one night when we took lodging and started to unpack. Suddenly I was stricken with a severe attack of some condition which affected my ability to move, and I became paralyzed to the extent that I was unable to lift my body erect. My wife and I began to work at once as we are taught in Christian Science. At first many discordant pictures came to my thought about the outcome. These I reversed at once, recalling that Mary Baker Eddy tells us in the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 494), "Divine Love always has met and always will meet every human need."

Within thirty minutes I could stand erect. Then I attempted to walk, knowing it was possible for God to meet all my needs. I walked a few steps, and little by little was able to move with greater ease. The next day we completed our journey according to our schedule. For a while both my walking and my speech were affected, but in a very short time I was entirely free. This experience enabled me later on to help one very close to me who manifested similar symptoms.
