One evening Jack's mother was preparing to attend the Wednesday evening testimony meeting in a Church of Christ, Scientist. She had such a solemn look on her face that Jack asked, "Don't you want to go to the meeting, Mother?"

Her answer was that of course she wanted to go, but that she was sad because in all the many years that she had attended these meetings, only once had she been able to give a testimony. When he asked for the reason, his mother had to admit that it was because she was afraid to get up and speak.
