"A GRATEFUL HEART"

One evening Jack's mother was preparing to attend the Wednesday evening testimony meeting in a Church of Christ, Scientist. She had such a solemn look on her face that Jack asked, "Don't you want to go to the meeting, Mother?"

Her answer was that of course she wanted to go, but that she was sad because in all the many years that she had attended these meetings, only once had she been able to give a testimony. When he asked for the reason, his mother had to admit that it was because she was afraid to get up and speak.

Now Jack, up to this time, had never attended a Wednesday evening testimony meeting, because his job had been to stay at home with his two younger brothers. But he was interested to know what the meetings were like. His mother explained to him that Mary Baker Eddy had provided for the meetings so that people who had been healed as a result of Christian Science treatment could tell others about it publicly and thus show how God heals.
