SELF-EXAMINATION AND CORRECTION

In the study and practice of Christian Science, one learns that self-examination and correction are two requirements for progress in daily living. Mary Baker Eddy tells us in "Miscellaneous Writings" (p. 109): "Examine yourselves, and see what, and how much, sin claims of you; and how much of this claim you admit as valid, or comply with. The knowledge of evil that brings on repentance is the most hopeful stage of mortal mentality."

The world today finds itself in turmoil and suffering because men do not devote sufficient time and effort to individual self-examination and correction. Christian Science alone instructs us clearly how to carry on these important activities.

In "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," Mrs. Eddy writes (p. 462): "Anatomy, when conceived of spiritually, is mental self-knowledge, and consists in the dissection of thoughts to discover their quality, quantity, and origin. Are thoughts divine or human? That is the important question. This branch of study is indispensable to the excision of error."
