DEMONSTRATING THE HEALING TRUTH

"Become conscious for a single moment that Life and intelligence are purely spiritual,— neither in nor of matter,—and the body will then utter no complaints. If suffering from a belief in sickness, you will find yourself suddenly well." That this statement of Mary Baker Eddy's in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 14) constitutes a practical rule for healing, the writer has proved in personal experiences.

On one occasion he had gone to bed manifesting the symptoms of a form of influenza that had incapacitated several members of his group. These symptoms were so distressing that he seemed incapable of coherent thinking and could only repeat over and over Mrs. Eddy's definition of God on page 587 of Science and Health.

After the writer had repeated this for more than an hour, the distress lessened, and he began to analyze and ponder the definition. The all-knowing and all-wise Mind, he argued, is completely conscious of all that really is and of good only, and is the only Mind. Since man is the expression of Mind, he knows by reflection all good and realizes that all is good. All-loving Soul is uninterruptedly manifesting its attributes through man. All-acting Principle, the origin, truth, and power of all that exists, is in perpetual, complete, and omnipotent operation and is being expressed as eternal existence, harmonious and inviolate.
