THE CHRISTLIKE NATURE OF CHRISTIAN SCIENCE

True Science is divine. The ideas it embodies relate to the spiritual perfection of God, man, and the universe. It is absolute Truth, yet Science is not abstract, for it is demonstrable in human experience.

The saving activity of this Science, or absolute Truth, in human consciousness is the Christ. Thus the terms Christ Science or Christian Science indicate its redemptive mission. Referring to the terms Divine Science, Spiritual Science, Christ Science. Christian Science, and Science, Mary Baker Eddy writes in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 127): "These synonymous terms stand for everything relating to God, the infinite, supreme, eternal Mind. It may be said, however, that the term Christian Science relates especially to Science as applied to humanity."

To apply Science to humanity is to be Christian in the highest sense, for Science heals, saves, provides, blesses, purifies, redeems, and protects. General opinion may consider such results as unfeasible and so place its hope in a future salvation. But Christian Science fulfills its concept of Christianity by meeting human needs in the present.
