It is indeed cause for gratitude to be able to share an experience of healing with seekers after God's kingdom. I wish to tell how self-righteousness was stilled.

Jesus once said (Matt. 16:24), "If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me." Early in my study of Christian Science I felt that I had a cross to bear. It was in the form of an unhappy relationship in my place of employment. The suggestion of not being in my rightful place kept asserting itself until I was voicing to others the desire to seek another position. I did this for several days, and during a week-end holiday I self-righteously decided to look for another place.

While doing so, I had an accident and dislocated a kneecap. Excruciating pain followed, and the help of a Christian Science practitioner was requested. During the night, the swelling of my knee reached alarming proportions, and my suffering was acute. A practitioner was called to my bedside.
