IT IS TIME TO AWAKE

"It is high time to awake out of sleep," admonished Paul in his letter to the Romans (13:11), and he further declared, "The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light."

In this call Paul was evidently urging the people to awake spiritually and put on the impregnable armor of God, which is a sure defense against evil. He did not direct them to struggle with error, although, as Christian Science teaches, one must firmly deny it and cast it out. His counsel was rather to develop a closer unity with God.

Illumination of thought with the spiritual truths of being exterminates the lie which erroneously asserts the reality of mortal existence, even as the light of day eliminates without effort the darkness of night.
