Progress in Branch Church Building

The Mother Church gratefully acknowledges the many reports received from branch churches and societies telling of church building.

Our Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, says in "Miscellaneous Writings" (p. 235), "In Christian Science, progress is demonstration, not doctrine," and the following experience illustrates this truth. A church reports:

"When our church edifice was built more than forty-five years ago there was no provision made for Sunday School quarters other than the church auditorium. From time to time through the ensuing years the possibility of finishing the basement as a Sunday School was discussed, but that was as far as the matter went. Then, when we were about to install a new pipe organ in our church, our members again discussed the possibility of the basement Sunday School room. It was thought that if this remodeling job was to be undertaken at all, it should be done before the organ was installed.
