GOD'S CONTROL

"Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven" (Matt. 6:10). These words in the Lord's Prayer show the importance Christ Jesus attached to praying for God's control. Jesus' prayer implies the nothingness of the testimony of material sense, which attempts to prove that evil is in control, instead of God. Mary Baker Eddy gives us a prayer in the form of a poem entitled "Feed My Sheep" (Poems, p. 14). The words are valuable to all of us, since humanity's need in general is to learn to come under God's loving control. The poem begins with the petition:

"Shepherd, show me how to go
O'er the hillside steep,
How to gather, how to sow,—
How to feed Thy sheep."
