Christian Science was presented to my husband and me by a friend. My husband accepted it immediately, but I was reluctant to do so, because I was an ardent smoker. Before long my husband was ready to join a branch church, but I refused to give up the smoking habit and so could not take this step with him. He said that he felt sure that in the near future my demonstration of freedom would be made.

For a while I continued to smoke all the more, for I did not want to feel that I was being influenced to quit. However, without realizing it, in less than a month I had practically stopped smoking. One day I sat down to smoke a cigarette, and it tasted most unpleasant. The habit was overcome then and there. After a short time I too joined a branch church.

Another healing was that of blood poisoning, caused by stepping on a rusty nail. While reading the Lesson-Sermon "Mortals and Immortals" in the Christian Science Quarterly, I realized that man, being immortal, cannot have anything added to him that is not from God; therefore blood poisoning cannot belong to immortal man. With that thought I was instantaneously healed.
