Because of medical laws regarding the circumstances of my birth, it was doubtful that I would live, and my parents were told that I would always be delicate. During my first few years I was constantly under the care of a doctor. Shortly after my sixth birthday a neighbor presented Christian Science to my mother, and my sister and I began going to Sunday School.

Some time later I had a severe attack of jaundice. My mother asked me what kind of treatment I wanted, and I asked that my Sunday School teacher, who was a practitioner, help me. In two weeks I was completely healed, and there has been no return of the difficulty. I have taken no medicine since our family took up the study of Christian Science and have enjoyed good health. As a result of this healing my father took up the study of Christian Science. Our family has depended entirely on Science, and our blessings have been countless.

At the beginning of my second year in high school I was stricken with what was thought to be inflammatory rheumatism, although no medical diagnosis was made. When we were unable to heal the condition ourselves and I could not move without pain, my Sunday School teacher was called to help. Within half an hour after she arrived I got up and walked into the next room. The next day I walked to town and back. There were no aftereffects, and this healing has also been permanent.
